On Everest,On Instagram 5月25日にアタック

最近、Instagramで山系タグの付いた写真を探すとNational Geographicのエベレスト関連がちらほら。
このブログでも5/19に使わせてもらったばかり。
そういえば、と思って今シーズンにエベレストベースキャンプに入ってるはずの石川直樹氏（写真家）のブログを久しぶりに見たらナショナルジオグラフィックとノースフェイス社で組織された登山隊（コンラッド隊）が5/25にエベレスト頂上にアタックするかもしれないと知った。
これでInstagramの件も納得。

ちなみに、エベレストにも何度か登頂されてる石川直樹氏は今シーズンにローツェ（8,516m、エベレストの隣）へ登ってエベレストの撮影をされる予定でベースキャンプに入っていたものの不可抗力で撤退された模様。（詳しくは石川氏のブログで）

今シーズンのエベレストは遭難者が多いらしく、ニュースはこのページや同ページ内に表示される関連記事で知ることができるが石川氏のブログを読む方がよりリアルに生々しく伝わる。
なぜ遭難者が多いのかも、ブログでベースキャンプに入るまで～撤退、帰国後と記事を読むと経緯が詳しく分かる。

そんな環境下でヒマラヤに残っているコンラッド隊について、石川氏の昨日（23日）の最新記事によると、

コンラッド・アンカー隊は25日前後の登頂を目指すべく、現在はC2にいる。ナショジオに全面的にバックアップされ、なおかつノースフェイス・チームの精鋭が集まった隊が、たとえ最悪なシーズンであるとはいえ、西稜をあきらめ（西の肩にさえもたどりつけず）、ノーマルルートでもエベレストに登頂できないという結果を残すわけにはいかないだろう。彼らは慎重にレポートを続けている。

これを見た後にＮational Geographic のコンラッド隊ブログを見に行ったら冒頭の写真。
最近Instagramにupされてた写真は現地からのレポートの一部で、気象条件をもとに予定された現時点のアタック日（5月25日）に登頂できれば"みんなもInstagramで写真見れるよ"と。
